Breeding, showing and caring for alpacas is our passion and has been for over 15 years. We’ve built a herd of around 100 strong, healthy animals in all colours, all of which are known by name not number. Many of our herd have show records to be proud of and all of them are from world renowned bloodlines.

Each alpaca has been home bred or hand picked for its true to type conformation and fine fleece qualities. We spend every day amongst them, making sure they’re healthy and happy as animal welfare is our priority and we think this reflects in the friendly nature of our healthy herd.

Whatever your alpaca ambitions are, we have the alpacas you’re looking for, ranging from prize winning breeding stock to the friendliest pets and field guards.
We pride ourselves in offering outstanding levels of biosecurity, on going aftercare to all our clients and we are always happy to share our experience in welfare and breeding, so you can run a healthy herd and achieve your goals.

Dear Katie and Nigel

Thank you for all the help and advice that you have given us with our new adventure with alpacas. You have both been superb in the time, detail and information you have given us. From showing us around your farm, listening to us and coming up with the ideal package. Letting us come and practice day to day husbandry with our animals and then your time and induction when they arrived at our farm. Visiting us and seeing that our facilities and paddock were in the correct condition and then all the follow up connections for shearing, vet, etc… This has enabled us to really get to grips with all that is needed to give our 3 youngsters, Cracker, Sox and Baby Cham the very best, continuing on from you excellent care.
We are so enjoying each day, taking care of them, halter training and just watching their antics in the paddock. We Know that you are easy contactable for continuing advice in developing our expertise.

When we decided to venture into the world of alpacas it wasn’t just about finding the perfect alpacas, but more about finding a breeder whom we felt comfortable with, and who would be approachable and supportive of us as novice owners.
Not only have Nigel and Katie provided us with 6 adorable pet boys, but they have been on hand to advise, re-assure and answer any questions we had, no matter how trivial.
We have been hugely impressed with the outstanding level of support we have received, and their dedicated and professional approach.
We would wholeheartedly recommend Nigel and Katie at Herts Alpacas to anybody wishing to own alpacas.

Dear Katie
Our boys arrived sheared, wormed, vaccinated and with their feet trimmed – What more could we ask for! Herts Alpacas offered us fantastic pre – buying advice, especially for us first timers, and have continued to help and support us all which has been absolutely invaluable.

After receiving another email full of advice and help, I would just like to thank you for all the help you have given us.
From turning up at the very start, and you taking quite a long time, to show us your pack, explain about them and answer all our questions,
some of them quite tedious for you i’m sure! To then showing us which ones were available for us to choose from.
Then to delivering them for us and checking out the fields to make sure there wasn’t anything harm full in them and everything was safe for them.
Then taking more time to go through a lot of general info, and luckily writing it down!
Our girls are now settled and very happy, and its great to know you are still there for us, to show, explain, or anyway we need you.

Katie, Nigel and of course Holly,
Since acquiring our 3 male alpacas from you 2 years ago we cannot thank you enough for your excellent after sales service both by phone, giving advice and reassurance as well as attending our farm to administer and tend to all their husbandry requirements. Your advice has been invaluable, practical and no nonsense and you have been such a great help to us novice Alpaca owners.
Your caring for your animals and friendliness shows through in that the alpacas you helped us choose have been exactly what we wanted, healthy, beautifully natured and such an immense pleasure to us.
We cannot recommend you highly enough.

To Nigel and Katie
Just want to say a big thank you for all the time and your help you gave us when we came to see you about the alpacas.
As novices we were unsure about age, sex and which ones to choose, and you gave us so much information and set our minds at rest.
Our 3 girls are now happily settled, and it gives us a piece of mind to know that you are on the end of the phone and email when we
need your expert advice.

We purchased three alpacas form Herts Alpacas a week ago. We are delighted with them and they have settled in well and like to be with our goats. We received detailed information about alpacas and their care. The handover was most informative and helpful. Nigel has gone to great lengths to ensure we were aware of Herts Alpacas continuing support.
We feel we have received an excellent service and would not hesitate in using the company again or recommending it to someone else.

I have always wanted to have alpacas. I had also heard they are excellent fox guards, so two years ago when a fox killed all my poultry again we searched online and found “Herts Alpacas”.

I phoned and made an appointment for their course on alpaca husbandry which I enjoyed enormously, and was introduced to their beautiful herd of 120 alpacas. I told my husband how wonderful they all were, and he suggested having a couple of breeding females – this was indeed a ticket to ride!!! We made another appointment and went back to choose some.

Herts Alpacas were really helpful and pointed out all the different types and family groups, not to mention the studs. I really wanted to make the right choice and enjoyed doing so. After about 4 visits I chose Storm and Poppy – both pregnant. Nigel and Katie came to see were they were to be kept and advised on fencing and shelter. Ever since my alpacas arrived, Nigel and Katie have given considerable support and advice.

Recently we have bought another young male, plus I have not lost any poultry to foxes since they first arrived in Oct 2009.

After much research, our decision to buy our alpaca starter herd from Herts Alpacas stemmed from the excellent quality and condition of the animals and the stress free and caring manner in which they are kept and handled.

The professionalism and compassion of Nigel, Katie and Holly, and their infectious enthusiasm for alpaca care, welfare and breeding were apparent from the outset and they have supported us at every stage of our project – from selecting our breeding females, advising us on paddock management and biosecurity, through to the day to day care of ‘our girls’.

No question has ever been too much bother and we are extremely grateful for the advice they have readily shared with us over the last 15 months.

We look forward to many years of association with them and will, with confidence, continue to use their handsome, well bred studs for our future breeding program.

We wholeheartedly recommend Herts Alpacas and their wonderful camelids.

Dear Nigel and Katie

“Thank you so much for giving so generously of your time and expertise during the three occasions we have met. You do great credit to the reputation of alpaca breeders, and I feel well equipped to take on the responsibility of looking after these unique animals”.
